SiliconDust has fired back at Pearl TV's claims that its HDHomeRun Flex device can't access certain ATSC 3.0-delivered channels because the product uses a system on a chip from HiSilicon, a unit of Huawei, the Chinese telecom giant that the US government has deemed a national security threat.

Comcast is studying a plan that could result in the spin-out of its legacy cable networks business. That review is focused on cable channels such as Bravo, CNBC, USA and MSNBC, but not Peacock or the NBC broadcast network.

Amid its shift to IP video, Comcast has told customers that it will no longer provide new CableCARD security modules to new or existing customers starting on October 24.
